In the latest models of Xiaomi and Ninebot G30 Max scooters, firmware updates have been introduced that make it difficult for users to independently modify the software, which is necessary for the proper functioning of an additional battery.
How to check if your scooter is eligible to work with an Additional Battery and prepare it for installation:
- Download the ScooterHacking Utility app on an Android device from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sh.cfw.utility or from the official website: https://utility.cfw.sh/
- Open the app and connect to the scooter. Some scooters may require pressing the on/off button for authorization.
- If the message “Restricted DRV/BLE firmware detected” appears, click “YES” or next to it to close the message.
- In the “FLASH” tab, select “INSTALL/UPDATE SHFW.”
- A gray message will appear with the name of the firmware tailored to your scooter (e.g., “Regular-Base170-v3.9.1”); select it.
- Click “START FLASH.”
- After about 30 seconds, the app will finish uploading the modified firmware.
- If the message “Flashing failed, Reason: Data format error” appears, you can try “ATTEMPT DRV DOWNGRADE.”
- Click “YES.”
- If the process succeeds, select “INSTALL/UPDATE SHFW” again and click “START FLASH.”
- After about 30 seconds, the app will complete uploading the modified firmware.
If the process is successful – congratulations! Your scooter does not require a display replacement and is ready to work with an additional battery. Simply connect it to enjoy a greater range. However, if a notification about locked DRV or BLE appears, installing an unlocked controller will be necessary.

The battery itself doesn’t increase the top speed, but with greater capacity, the scooter maintains full power longer and accelerates faster, especially when the charge level is low.
6. How do I charge a scooter with an additional battery?
Nothing changes – you use the standard charger plugged into the scooter’s port. Both batteries (built-in and additional) charge together, and the charger will show a green light when they’re full.
7. Is the battery safe and durable?
Yes, we use only new cells from manufacturers like Samsung and LG, which last up to 1000 charging cycles. That’s far more than cheap recycled batteries. Plus, every battery undergoes quality control before shipping.
8. Can I fold the scooter after installing the battery?
Yes, the battery is mounted in a handlebar bag or near the deck, so folding the scooter remains possible and convenient.
9. Will installing the battery void my scooter’s warranty?
Theoretically, any modification could affect the warranty, but it depends on Ninebot’s service policy. If you’re concerned, contact us – we’ll advise you on how to proceed safely.
